🎡 The Gutter Report: Big E Deep Dive — Rides, Food & Price Tags
The Big E is back in West Springfield, Massachusetts, running September 12–28, 2025. It’s the largest fair in the Northeast, drawing millions with fried food creations, livestock shows, Midway rides, and state pride.

🔧 Rides & Midway Info
The Midway is stacked with thrill rides and classics. Visitors can spin on the Sky-High Super Wheel, flip through the Ring of Fire, or blast through speed rides like Himalaya and 1001 Nachts. For families, there’s the Double Decker Merry-Go-Round, Teacups, and plenty of kid-friendly options.

🍔 Food Selection & New Flavors
Food is always the Big E’s biggest flex. This year, new menu items include deep-fried strawberry shortcake, pickle sundaes, and apple pie cider.
The fair’s state buildings pack regional eats: on Connecticut Day, heavy-hitters like Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale lobster rolls, Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ, and Republic Gastropub cheesesteak egg rolls make appearances.
Classic fair food isn’t going anywhere: giant turkey legs, fried Oreos, doughnut burgers, pickle fries, and crepes are all in heavy rotation. Expect more than 75 new food items debuting across the grounds this year, a mix of sweet, salty, and over-the-top creations.
🍦 Big E desserts go crazy — fried, sprinkled, and sugar-stacked.
⚠️ What’s Messy / Under Pressure
The Big E is booming, but success brings chaos.
In 2024, record-breaking crowds left fairgoers stuck in long lines and shoulder-to-shoulder congestion. This year, officials have shifted vendor layouts and limited certain ticket discounts to weekdays only to ease weekend pressure.
Vendors in the Connecticut Building are also feeling the squeeze: higher space costs and stiffer competition to secure booths.
Traffic gridlock is a recurring nightmare. Expect backed-up roads and packed food lines on weekends, with wait times stretching well past the fun threshold.
🐣 Livestock & Agriculture
Beyond rides and food, the Big E shines as a showcase of New England agriculture. Visitors can watch chicks hatching in real-time, admire giant pumpkins, and explore farm-to-table exhibits that connect culture to crops.

Looking to save? Weekday After-5pm tickets slash entry to just $11 (Sunday–Thursday). Seniors also get their own discount days.
✅ How to Play It
If you’re hitting the Big E this year:
Weekdays > Weekends — cheaper, less crowded, easier to move.
Rides — casual goers can grab credits, but if you’re a thrill seeker, the unlimited wristband pays for itself fast.
Food — don’t just chase the viral treats. The state buildings are where the real gems are hidden.
Plan parking + arrival — get there early on weekends if you don’t want to waste an hour in traffic.
🙌🏾 Soaking in the fair vibes — culture, community, and good energy everywhere.
