🍹 The Gutter Report: Cinco de Mayo at The Garden — Mex Media & Will Fonz Draw Major Crowd Before Police Shut It Down
An unfinished space, built in real time, turns into one of Staten Island’s biggest day-to-night events
Staten Island, New York — What went down on Cinco de Mayo wasn’t just another holiday party—it was a full-scale event built inside a space that wasn’t even fully finished yet.
At the main entrance of the Staten Island Mall, a new outdoor concept—The Garden—was opened early for the occasion. But what made this different wasn’t just the timing—it was the execution.
Because the space wasn’t ready.
It was made ready.

🌴 The Space: Built in Real Time
The venue itself was still in development—but you wouldn’t know that walking through it.
For Cinco de Mayo, Mex Media and Will Fonz developed the space in real time, transforming an incomplete outdoor location into a fully functioning event environment right outside one of Staten Island’s busiest hubs.
From the layout to the presentation, everything was brought together on the fly—and according to attendees, it was set up clean and looked the part.
A tacos-and-pizza food truck was also on hand, while drinks were supplied through Hop Shoppe, which was also launching its outdoor Garden concept at the time, giving the event structure while introducing something new to the area.

🎶 The Experience: Strong Turnout From Day Into Night
From the 11AM start into the night, the event held steady.
People who attended described:
Great turnout
Good drinks
Food on point
Overall fun atmosphere
This wasn’t a quick pop-out—it had duration, with energy that carried from daytime into the late hours.
A celebrity appearance from Nems added another layer to the draw, bringing attention and presence to an already active crowd.

🧠 Behind the Event: Mex Media & Will Fonz
The execution traces back to two names:
Mex Media, moving as a talent manager and promoter, brought reach, coordination, and the ability to actually pull a crowd.
Will Fonz, operating on the entrepreneurial side, helped bring the vision to life—playing a key role in shaping the space and making the event function in real time.
Together, this wasn’t just promotion—it was on-the-ground production.
They didn’t wait for a finished venue.
They built the environment and filled it.

🚔 The Shutdown: When It Got Out of Hand
As the night progressed, the energy shifted.
Around 11PM, police stepped in and shut the event down after things began getting out of hand. Authorities reportedly used mace to disperse parts of the crowd.
Up until that point, the event had been running strong—but the size and intensity of the crowd eventually pushed past what could be controlled.
📊 What It Shows
Even with the shutdown, the takeaway is clear:
The crowd is there
The demand is real
And the right people can bring it together
Cinco de Mayo at The Garden wasn’t perfect—but it was active, packed, and talked about.
🧾 Final Take
This wasn’t just a party—it was execution under pressure.
Mex Media and Will Fonz took an unfinished space at one of Staten Island’s busiest locations, built it into something functional, and drew a real turnout—while helping introduce a new outdoor concept at the same time.
Even with how it ended, people still walked away saying the same thing:
It was a dope time.
Not for clicks — for clarity.
