According to NBC5 News, the incident unfolded on April 7, 2026, inside a dormitory-style housing unit.
Authorities say Brown became involved in a confrontation with another incarcerated individual. During that encounter:

The other individual involved has been identified in reporting as Ollie Jackson, 29.

Medical officials determined the cause of death was traumatic brain injury caused by blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
