North Country, New York — Three incarcerated men died after separate violent altercations inside three Upstate New York prisons between April 6 and April 10, according to a report by Syracuse.com (read here), with additional details confirmed through New York State Police and regional coverage.

Investigators are treating all three cases as homicides, with charges pending.

🔒 Upstate Correctional Facility — Malone (April 6)

Michael J. Campbell, 51, was found unresponsive under a sheet inside his cell at approximately 4:30 p.m.

According to New York State Police, Campbell had been strangled with a shoelace by his cellmate, Andrew Hernandez, 42. An autopsy determined the cause of death was asphyxia due to ligature strangulation, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

⚠️ Riverview Correctional Facility — Ogdensburg (April 7 → April 10)

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on April 7, Lawrence Brown, 34, was struck in the face by fellow inmate Ollie Jackson during an altercation inside the facility.

Brown fell and hit his head, suffering significant brain bleeding. He later died from those injuries on April 10.

An autopsy determined Bennett died from a closed head injury, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
